Emergency Evacuation / Cancellation of School Before School Begins
Gather facts and verify information.
Inform emergency services as necessary.
Activate the emergency calling tree to inform staff members.
Notify all staff on campus of situation.
Each teacher should have a student list and phone list at home to begin informing students.
Principal will call Tom Parrish's office (254-5316) and inform of situation- his office will call media, superintendent and transportation.
Principal and/or designee will remain at or go to school to inform any parents/students that are not notified in time.
Any students that are already on campus should report to the office to call parents.
The command center will be established by the administration or designee in the school office. Students will be checked out of school from this center, so that all of our students can be accounted for.
Staff members will report progress of phone trees to administrator.
All parents should be re-routed to the main office to checkout students.
Students should not be permitted to leave without a signed "Permit to Leave" Slip.
Staff will be gathered (if appropriate), when all students have left the premises, for a debriefing.
A statement will be prepared for parents.
An emergency drill form will be completed with reflections on process.
Emergency Evacuation / Cancellation of School During the Day
Assemble Crisis Team in office as well as send all of the following to the office: All instructional aides, music teacher, PE teacher, G/T teacher, Counselor, Resource teacher, any parents that are in the building. Each person will be given a call list. (If you have a cell phone, please send it to the office so we can use all available lines.)
Gather facts and verify information.
Remove students from building as necessary/safe.
Inform emergency services as necessary.
Principal will call Tom Parrish's office (254-5316) to inform them of the situation - his office will call media, superintendent and transportation.
Keep all students in the classrooms. Teachers who have students in special areas should pick up his/her students and report back to the classroom.
If for any reason your class must move from your designated area, please inform the staff in the front office.
Teachers keep an ongoing student roster by crossing off student names as parents pick them up.
The command center will be established by the administration in the school office. Students will be checked out of school from this center, so that all of our students can be accounted for.

Students will be called to the command center (office), provided there is no power outage. Should the power fail, parents will be allowed to go to the classrooms after they check the student out of the school.
Teachers are not to release a student without a signed "Permit to Leave" Slip.
Teachers will notify command center administrator when all of their class members have been removed from classes.
Staff will be gathered, when all students have left the premises, for a debriefing.
A statement will be prepared for parents.
